Our multinational dairy client is looking for an Operations Manager to oversee a manufacturing facility located near Harrisburg, PA. This pivotal role will report directly to the Plant Manager and be responsible for supervising a 24x7 operation, providing guidance, coaching, and training to team members in order to foster the development of effective and efficient teams. You will collaborate closely with the Plant Steering Team to create and implement short- and long-term strategies, including leading projects, managing staffing, and promoting employee engagement.
In this position, you will lead a production team consisting of salaried employees and over 200 nonunion hourly associates, with the objective of cultivating a strong safety culture, fostering positive employee relations and engagement, and ensuring consistency across all teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of facility assets.
- Manage safety, quality, service, and cost performance within the assigned area.
- Provide recommendations to senior management on long-range labor strategies and capital equipment requirements.
- Develop and implement recommendations for changing systems, policies, and procedures, ensuring their timely and accurate implementation.
- Collaborate with Human Resources in matters of employee relations, ensuring consistent application of policy expectations.
- Implement strategies and tactics that align with department and company vision and goals.
- Develop and maintain operating budgets and capital spending plans for the assigned area of responsibility.
- Identify, obtain, and develop the necessary staff capabilities to consistently achieve departmental objectives.
- Ensure the application of industry best practices and provide appropriate training for employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of experience in management/supervision within the food processing/manufacturing industry, with a strong background in progressive leadership. Alternatively, an Associate's degree with 10 years of experience in management/supervision within the food processing/manufacturing industry will also be considered.
- Strong presentation, communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record in understanding the factors driving product and labor cost variances.
- Experience in high-speed food manufacturing.
