Litigation Paralegal – Labor and Employment (San Diego, CA)
A prestigious law firm in Downtown San Diego is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join its dynamic Labor and Employment Group. This full-time, on-site role offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful cases that shape workplace policies and practices across California.
About the Role
As a Litigation Paralegal in the Labor and Employment Group, you’ll be part of a team that advises and defends employers in complex matters, including:
- Class actions and PAGA claims
- Employee classification and workplace discipline
- Leaves of absence and disability issues
- Whistleblower laws and workplace privacy rights
The team serves a wide range of clients, from public entities and corporations to non-profits and public-private partnerships. You’ll engage in all phases of labor and employment matters, including litigation in federal and state courts—from drafting pleadings and managing discovery to trial preparation and appeal.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee case management from start to finish, including drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents
- Maintain organized case files and update discovery logs and indices
- Support deposition and hearing preparation by identifying and gathering exhibits and creating witness outlines
- Manage document productions, assist with eDiscovery, and coordinate with litigation support teams for database management
- Conduct legal research, cite-check briefs, and ensure accuracy of legal and factual citations
- Collaborate with attorneys to develop case strategies and provide proactive support during trials
This position also includes meeting a 1575 billable hour annual budget, traveling as needed for case support, and demonstrating reliable attendance on-site.
What You’ll Need
- Paralegal certification under California Business & Professions Code §6450
- A Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved institution and a minimum of five years of experience in California labor and employment law (bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite/365, including advanced Excel functions (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and INDEX/MATCH)
- Proficiency with eDiscovery platforms like iPro and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI
- Strong research skills with experience in Westlaw or Lexis
- In-depth knowledge of California legal procedures, court rules, and local regulations
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- A high degree of independence, professionalism, and discretion

Compensation
