Description
ILWU Credit Union is searching for a temporary Member Services Representatives to work Monday through Friday at our Long Beach headquarters with the ability to cover as needed in other branch locations (San Pedro and Wilmington). This position will be a temporary job expected to last 30 to 120 days, or possibly longer. You will provide friendly, fast, and accurate service to members, and be responsible for explaining various products and services as well as recognizing and suggesting solutions to member’s needs. You will support the Credit Union by abiding by and maintaining knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures to protect member confidentiality, member accounts, and Credit Union assets.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Accurately perform teller transactions in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures, and in compliance with regulatory requirements and security procedures.
- Receive checks and cash for deposit to savings & checking accounts, verify deposit amounts, and examine checks for endorsement, negotiability, and check-hold requirements.
- Process withdrawals, transfers, credit card cash and line of credit advances, and loan payments.
- Place stop payments, process gift cards, and complete required forms.
- Process and review disputes for ACH/Share Draft/Cards.
- Maintain cash drawer within prescribed cash limits and meet cash balancing requirements; dual-control for TCD and vault.
- Provide friendly, fast and accurate service to members.
- Explain various Credit Union products and services to members.
- Perform specific and delegated duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Past experience within a credit union or banking environment highly preferred.
- Cash handling experience required.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communications skills required.
- Requires an equivalent of a high school level of language, math and reasoning skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding Credit Union records and data.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding Credit Union records and data.
- Thorough knowledge of regulations affecting Credit Union’s membership eligibility.
- Ability to protect and adhere to member privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
- Good written communication skills.
- Good math, reading, and comprehension abilities.
- Self-motivated and self-directed.
- Good organization and time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and promptly complete duties with a high degree of attention to detail while meeting demanding deadlines.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Working knowledge of English, spelling, and grammar.
- Must be able to pass background, credit history and bondability checks.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an air-conditioned and heated office environment with exposure to basic office equipment and typical moderate office noise.
Physical Demands
The physical demands listed and charted here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Candidates must be able to sit, stand, and walk on a frequent basis. Must be able to view and focus on a computer screen on a frequent basis. Use of hands and fingers on a frequent basis Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
