Valle Smiles in Fairfield, CA is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate should exhibit excellent clinical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a passion for promoting oral health and preventing dental diseases. As a Registered Dental Hygienist, you will work closely with our team of dental professionals to provide high-quality oral care to our patients.
Responsibilities
1. Perform dental prophylaxis, including scaling, cleaning, and polishing teeth, to remove plaque, calculus, and stains, ensuring optimal oral health.
2. Conduct oral cancer screenings and other diagnostic tests to identify and detect any abnormalities or diseases.
3. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including toothbrushing, flossing, and other effective preventive measures.
4. Provide thorough patient assessments, including taking medical and dental histories, recording vital signs, and evaluating gum and supporting tissue health.
5. Administer local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, or other medications as required for pain management during specific dental procedures.
6. Take dental radiographs (X-rays) and interpret them accurately for diagnosis and treatment planning.
7. Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including crown and bridge placements, fillings, and extractions, by providing suction, maintaining a clear field of vision, and implementing appropriate isolation techniques.
8. Maintain patient records and ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of treatments provided.
9. Perform oral health screenings and prophylactic services in community outreach programs or schools to promote oral health awareness.
10. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean and sterile environment, and ensure patient and staff safety.
11. Stay updated on current trends and advancements in dental hygiene techniques, technologies, and regulations through continuing education courses and seminars.
Requirements
1. Valid state license as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) along with current CPR certification.
2. Associate's degree or higher in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
3. Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist, with a thorough understanding of oral disease prevention and hygiene practices.
4. Proficient in using dental software and digital radiography systems.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, demonstrating empathy and respect.
6. Strong attention to detail, with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7. Ability to prioritize tasks, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing circumstances.
8. Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends, based on patient needs and practice requirements.
9. Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations, ensuring compliance with all guidelines.
10. Commitment to professional development and continuing education to enhance clinical skills.
