JOB SUMMARY
Network engineer lead provides production support, information security, architecture, life-cycle management, configuration, monitoring, escalation response and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks and network appliances and systems. Role requires strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, excellent communication skills and a bias for action.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Thorough understanding and familiarity of Cisco Meraki products and platforms
- Design, implement, maintain and monitor solutions in a Cisco Meraki environment to securely optimize network operations
- Content / load balancing, network security, firewalls, and VPN network management utilizing Cisco Meraki equipment
- Network security (firewalls, DMZ architectures, cloud services)
- Contributes to the creation of new policies and procedures for Maintenance Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan based on ITIL standards.
- Plan and implement network security, including setting up firewalls, managing host security.
- Develop a common understanding of service level expectations with the business and regularly review the business areas' measures and impressions of service level delivery
- Ensure appropriate resources are in place to meet delivery expectations
- Assess vendor development / test strategies
- Provide Tier 2 / 3 support for the network
- Develop best practices for capacity planning, trending, monitoring, high availability and disaster recovery
- Ensures customer satisfaction with the resolution or circumvention of hardware, software, and / or circuit problems including the assessment of bandwidth requirements based upon empirical data
- Must be able to write and execute network implementations
- Applies extensive industry and enterprise knowledge to identify and recommend integrated solutions, products and services to support the enterprise's accomplishments of business goals or technical needs
- Contributes to systems infrastructure plans based on an understanding of the customer's organizational direction, technical context and business needs
- Provide network performance statistic and reports and recommend technical enhancements to the network
- Interfaces with others on system infrastructure problems and advises management on technical problems, priorities, and methods
- Other duties as assigned.
