A Bit About The Role
Performs a variety of responsibilities related to financial systems that support the financial activities of the system, managing large projects identified by finance management and identification and implementation of recommended process improvements. Lead or assist with the implementation and maintenance of financial information systems; and providing services relating to accounting/financial reporting and budgeting.
SFSA is expected to work with a high level of independence and to provide input and guidance to other members of the Accounting and Finance team. Develop and implement new methodologies and make recommendations to improve both the business and processes within the Accounting and Finance team.
On a daily basis, responsible for coordinating activities that support the accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial management functions. Performs special projects and work assignments that are broad in nature, usually requiring originality, problem solving skills and ingenuity.
- Collaborate with finance, accounting, and IT teams to gather and document business requirements for accounting system enhancements or new system implementations.
- Evaluate manual and automated accounting processes, systems, and procedures for efficiency of workflow.
- Design and configure accounting system modules, workflows, and reports to meet user requirements and optimize financial processes.
- Work effectively in a collaborative and innovative team-oriented environment.
- Conduct or obtain evaluations of system performance and make modifications as necessary.
- Complete ad hoc data projects and requests as needed.
- Provide training and support to end-users, including finance and accounting teams, on the effective use of accounting systems and related tools.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with Accounting or ERP software required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial systems analysis
- Experience with accounting modules, workflows, and reports to meet user requirements and optimize financial processes
- Experience evaluating manual and automated accounting processes, systems, and procedures for efficiency of workflow
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivot tables, etc.)
- Experience comparing accounting datasets to discover variances
- Has experience with data conversion, performing data extraction, analyzing it, and working with other IT team members to load the data.
- Basic understanding of database structure & queries
- Experience using various report writing tools to extract data.
- Strong communicator. Someone who can work independently and keep all stakeholders updated.
Additional Skills (Good to have but not required, will be a huge plus):
- Degree or Certification in Accounting is a plus.
- Oracle and/or SalesForce experience a plus
