What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapeutic Facilitator position at Imagine!?
Promotes the health, safety, and welfare of participants by coordinating and overseeing the development and implementation of Therapeutic/Educational Plans and data tracking and facilitates classes. Works collaboratively with Community Services staff to ensure effective services are delivered in alignment with participant goals. Ensures therapeutic integrity of services, quality standards, and compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and policies. Maintains professional relationships with participants, staff, families, and success coordinators.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Develops and implements therapeutic and/or educational plans.
- Coordinates and develops Therapeutic Recreation/Educational Plans for participants, ensuring alignment with their overall service plans and the mission of Community Services.
- Completes assessments to develop, revise, and update/write individual goals used for tracking progress in services. Goals are reviewed regularly and updated at least annually prior to the start of the client’s new service year.
- Writes, revises, and maintains therapeutic support and activity plans, ensuring progress notes/data tracking are completed according to scheduled requirements.
- Collects and tracks data (both formally and informally) and analyzes when changes need to be made to the individual’s goals.
- Monitors the effectiveness of plans, identifies areas for improvement, and works with the team for continuous plan enhancement.
- Organizes and monitors activities that support therapeutic and educational goals, ensuring they meet the mission of Community Services.
- Provides skilled instructional support to Facilitators, Community Counselors, and other staff to ensure the effective implementation of the plans.
- Supports Facilitators or other staff seeking adaptations to ensure the quality of activities support the individuals in services and their goals.
- Facilitates classes on a weekly basis.
- Promotes the health, safety, and welfare of the participants.
- Ensures health and safety requirements set forth by Imagine! guidelines as well as all regulating agencies. This includes appropriate services and supports, such as positive instruction, assistance with personal hygiene and care, meals, etc.
- Engages with participants who require therapeutic support, including behavior intervention strategies and skill-building activities to promote socially appropriate behavior.
- Assists participants with daily living activities, as needed.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of participants while providing transportation to and from community-based sites for activities.
- Acts in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Supports and implements activities according to Imagine! guidelines and standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Completes documentation and tracking in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner including participant progress, incidents, and/or significant health or behavior changes.
- Monitors and reports on data to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations, including Imagine! Policies and Procedures.
- Fosters compliance with organizational and regulatory training standards and partners with leadership to ensure that team members are up to date with required training on goals created for individuals in services.
4. Effectively communicates and collaborates with others.
- Fosters and maintains open and accurate communication with participants, families, staff, the treatment team, and other stakeholders. This includes providing or facilitating regular updates via email, phone, and meetings.
- Acts as liaison between Imagine! and participants’ guardians/family members, ensuring they are informed of updates and/or concerns.
- Supports and assists the treatment team in implementing individual treatment and behavior plans as developed by Behavior Therapists or BCBAs.
- Reports all behavioral incidents, medical emergencies, and/or significant changes in medical condition to supervisor, and completes all related paperwork in a timely manner.
- Maintains respectful and professional relationships with participants, staff, guardians and family members, and all other members of treatment teams.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervision of interns and/or volunteers, as assigned.
- Assists Program Manager in annual budget planning as it relates to costs associated with the creation of individual goals.
- Maintains and cares for Imagine! property, including supplies, vehicles, etc., being mindful of safety and cleanliness.
- Represents program in meetings and committees, as well as in promoting and marketing, as requested.
- Attends additional trainings as requested.
- Implements Individual Treatment/Behavior Plans developed by Behavior Therapists and/or BCBAs
- Responds appropriately to client’s challenging behaviors and implements behavior intervention strategies as directed by the Behavior Therapist or BCBA
- Collects data when working with some individuals
- Proactively communicates any questions or concerns to the Behavior Therapist or BCBA
Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability: |
· General knowledge of community resources. · Demonstrated ability to engage in skilled interaction with people who require behavior development and/or therapeutic supports. · Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels. · Effective and creative negotiator and problem solver. This includes the ability to provide crisis intervention and resolve conflict. · Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/goals for self and others. · Effective organizational and time management skills. · Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. · Ability to work effectively with various technology including word processing software, internet based databases, assistive technology, etc. · Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet Imagine! driving requirements. · This position requires regular use of a personal mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet. |
Training/Education: |
· Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Education, Psychology, or a related field required. · Current certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) in accordance with the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation a plus. |
Experience: |
· 2 years of experience preferred. · OR combination of education and experience. |
Working Environment/Physical Activities |
· Ability to lift 50-75 pounds. · Ability to drive a minivan. · Ability to push wheelchairs and to lift and transfer participants as related to toileting, diaper changing, and other health and activity related needs. · Work is performed in a typical office environment and in the community. · Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing environment.
