What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Manager position at IMC Construction?
- Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors, and the general public.
- Enforce corporate and project-specific safety and health programs as well as federal, state, and local safety standards.
- Assist Director of Safety (DOS) in the development and coordination of project-specific safety programs.
- Train all levels of management on High-Risk Work tasks, internal policies and IMC Safety Manual.
- Assist DOS by maintaining CCIP metrics, trend incident data and address areas for continued safety improvement.
- Report project-specific safety performance and future plans.
- Lead accident, incident and near miss investigations; develop and implement corrective actions and be able to effectively communicate findings to management team.
- Lead/ mentor office and project safety committee(s) to raise safety awareness, communicate best practices and lessons learned and generate involvement throughout all departments.
- Assist DOS by developing programs that engage employees in safety awareness and recognize positive behaviors.
- Work closely with field supervision to plan more complex safety aspects of the project construction including critical lifts, hazardous material handling, etc.
- Develop project-specific safety training for jobsite personnel including subcontractors.
- Coordinate third-party safety reviews including OSHA.
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health related field; and 5 year’s job experience in construction industry. Applicants may apply with 5-7 years equivalent job experience in construction industry with collateral role in safety.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- OSHA Construction 30-Hour Training
- Preferred OSHA 500/510 trainer certification
- Excellent communication, planning, organization, problem-solving and analytical skills
- An ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
- Self-motivated/ capable of working independently without direct supervision.
