Job Summary: Reporting to the Division President, the Maintenance and Engineering Director will oversee both functions within our facility. Leading a team of 30 maintenance and engineering professionals across 4 shifts, this role is critical in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, maintenance management, and team leadership in a heavy industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the maintenance and engineering team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety within the team.
- Maintenance Operations:
- Oversee the maintenance of all machinery, equipment, and facilities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs coordinated with production teams to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
- Strong understanding of Siemens PLC’s
- Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
- Manage programs and processes such as Lock-Out Tag-Out, Confined Space, Hot Work Permit, Forklift Inspections, Chain and Sling Inspections, Fall Protection.
- Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis on equipment failures to determine causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Responsible for on-going training and development of maintenance staff.
- Manage Preventative Maintenance Program ensuring PMs are performed on schedule and adjust frequencies and/or scope as needed based on equipment reliability.
· Engineering Projects:
- Plan, design, and implement engineering projects to improve manufacturing processes and equipment leading large capital projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve engineering and maintenance issues.
- Develop and maintain a budget for the department while ensuring materials, supplies, or equipment are ordered as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and safety incidents.
- Budgeting and Reporting:
- Develop and manage the maintenance and engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Prepare and present regular reports on engineering and maintenance performance, project progress, and budget status to senior management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in maintenance and engineering management, preferably in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems and engineering principles.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD Lean Manufacturing Principles and CMMS software.
