Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This role involves programming, qualifying pre-production processes, and optimizing operations for 3- and 4-axis CNC machinery. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in CNC programming, tooling optimization, and probe routines, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, operate, and troubleshoot 3- and 4-axis CNC machines, including probe routines and 4th-axis operations.
- Interpret blueprints, CAD files, and technical drawings to determine machine setup and workflow.
- Optimize end mill selection, spindle speeds, and feeds for precision and efficiency.
- Monitor machining processes to detect malfunctions or deviations; perform adjustments to maintain tolerances.
- Inspect finished parts using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Document production activities and maintain accurate records via computer systems.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to refine processes and resolve issues.
- Adhere to safety protocols and promote a culture of workplace safety.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve productivity.
- Train and mentor junior operators on CNC operations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in CNC machining or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in CNC programming (Hurco WinMax conversational programming is a strong plus).
- Expertise in probe routines, 4th-axis operations, and tooling optimization.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, geometric tolerances (GD&T), and CAD models.
- Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
- Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for machine operation and part inspection.
- Ability to work in environments with noise, coolants, and lubricants.
- Physical stamina to stand, climb, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to operate material handling equipment safely (per OSHA/manufacturer guidelines).
