Job Summary:
A candidate in this position conducts experiments and analyzes data critical to IMCS strategies and products. Research Associate is an entry level research position. The person in this role is expected to have experience or familiarity with a range of experimental methods common to analytical chemistry and protein biochemistry. S/he should be able to execute on assigned experimental work. S/he will participate in writing project plans based on detailed descriptions and conversations with supervisors. S/he will analyze raw data by methods provided, confirm the accuracy and precision of the work, and assist in the interpretation of results. S/he must communicate effectively with supervisors and peers, both verbally (in meeting situations) and in written documents and reports. S/he must learn, know, and observe all safety standards.
This position reports to a Senior Research Associate or higher.
Responsibilities (may include but not limited to):
- Optimize assay conditions to achieve commercial levels of stability, robustness, and performance as directed by supervisor
- Keep detailed lab notebooks, preparing reports, updates and summaries for supervisor as directed.
- Execute experiments in enzyme assays and small molecule and biologics quantitation as directed.
- Operate and train on laboratory equipment pertaining to research activities.
- Manipulate raw data to generate interpretable results.
- Participate in group meetings, including presentation of data.
- Write reports and present results for review by supervisor.
- Present results in the research group meetings as requested by supervisor.
- Characterization of enzymatic processes, glycosylhydrolase reactions on various substrates, or the reverse with glycosyltransferase for synthesis of complex glycans.
- Protocol adherence and robustness testing as directed by supervisor.

Required Qualifications (knowledge AND experience):
- M.Sc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field; or
- B.Sc. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field and 1 years relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications (knowledge OR experience):
- Prior work experience in bench work and research laboratory setting.
- Prior work experience in Biotech industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work in team setting as well as independently on multiple projects in parallel.
- Working knowledge of chromatography, and practical workflows from R&D discovery stage for functional assays.
