IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Civil Designer 1 in our Leesburg, VA office.

Scope:

The Civil Designer 1 will work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include assisting engineers and other industry professionals to prepare models and drawings for civil engineering projects. This position will be expected to work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Maintain and provide project design documentation for permanent record files

• Recognizes potential project problems quickly and seeks advice of the Project Manager

• Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication

• Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects; Assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives

• Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress

• Assist in the design and analysis of civil engineering projects utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards

• Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions

• Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements

• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering; Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG

• Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work; Identify and mitigate potential safety risk associated with civil design risks

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools, primarily Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer experience a plus

• Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors

• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

• Strong understanding of civil engineering design

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges

• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Education & Experience:

• Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred

• 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the civil engineering consulting or construction industry

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds

• Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull

• Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
