Job Summary
POSITION TITLE: Sr. Mine Planning Engineer
LOCATION: Johns Creek, GA or Sylacauga, AL
Job Description
Based at either our office in Johns Creek, GA, or our Sylacauga Site in Alabama, Imerys is hiring a Sr. Mine Planning Engineer. This individual will be responsible for medium-term planning, mine engineering projects, stripping design, short-term planning and mine operations support, and reconciliation support.
Key Tasks And Requirements
- Prepare open pit and underground mine designs with optimized ultimate extents, phasing, mining method selection and waste storage facilities
- Develop medium term and life of mine plans from resource models and business forecasts including all aspects of mine planning, reporting, development and plan execution such as mine safety, quality projection, equipment recommendation, volumetrics, reserve estimation, sequencing, scheduling and environmental considerations
- Develop capital needs within mine phasing for medium range capital forecasting
- Determine optimal heavy mobile equipment fleet based on production requirements, site specific conditions, ramp and bench configurations
- Prepare periodic crude materials requirement planning reports and communicate results
- Assist in preparation of site budgets and stripping planning / capital requests
- Develop and recommend safe traffic routing for medium and short term plans
- Other related duties as assigned by management
- Able to travel to US Imerys sites- Approximately 30% Travel
- Demonstrated high proficiency of MS Office and Google Office Products
- Demonstrated understanding of GIS and survey equipment and software
- Proven ability to learn and effectively use Deswik Design and Scheduling Software or equivalent
- Proven ability to establish positive relationships with existing workforce
- History of conducting one’s self as a champion for change and demonstrated success in supporting a continuous improvement culture
- Proven ability to be an integral part of a mining management team; prior operations management experience highly regarded
- Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and facilitate work through peers, superiors, and subordinates
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with different timelines
- Proficient and effective verbal and written communication skills
- BS Degree - preferably in Mining, Geological or Geotechnical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years experience supporting active mining operations
- P.E. Preferred
