The Head of Camp and College Recruiting is a dual role with two specific focuses. The role serves as the primary point person for the preparation and execution of IMGA camp programming throughout the entire year. It also functions as the owner of all college placement for the academy students in division including all aspects of the process.
Position Responsibilities
Head of Camp
Oversees the camp programs, managing students, coaches, and programs to maximize the delivery, quality, and overall efficiency
Provides families with consistent and proactive communication to ensure a high level of customer service and retention-focused practices for the department
Works with Senior Associate AD and Sport Director to ensure staffing ratios are maintained to accommodate program growth, and manages camp program schedules
Responsible for weekly camp orientations and introductions to the Academy and the features and benefits of its various academic and athletic programs
Interacts with the camp students as a mentor and as an educator in the sport and effectively communicates to camp students and their parents/guardians as appropriate
Assists with camp delivery as needed and in the recruiting of prospective student-athletes
Head of College Recruiting
Proactively meets with student athletes, families, and coaches – individually and in groups – regarding finding the right college fit athletically, academically, and socially
Maintains appropriate documentation of college recruiting process for each student athlete and family, while adhering to the sport College Placement Guide timeline
Actively cultivates and maintains a network of colleges and universities to continually expand our collegiate relationships including trends in college recruitment, NCAA compliance, and overall landscape of collegiate athletics
Serves as primary point of contact for collegiate coaches in sport
Arranges college scout days on site. Plans evaluation workouts and oversees delivery
Provides resources and education for families to make the best possible choices, and mentors student-athletes on how to communicate effectively and professionally with college coaches
Partners across campus for an aligned college planning process, including relationships with Academic College Counselors and NCSA coaches
Oversees NCSA relationship for department, tracking profiles, evaluations, and communication from IMGA and collegiate coaches
Tracks athletic and merit scholarship opportunities
General Responsibilities
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, coaches, teachers and other professionals on a regular basis
Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community promoting a positive environment
Manages time effectively, meeting personal and company goals and working effectively with other members of the staff
Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethic codes
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Experience in coaching &/or playing at the professional &/or collegiate level
Proficiency in all Volleyball training and instructional techniques
Strong understanding of NCAA and other governing regulations that pertain to student athlete college placement
Extensive knowledge of youth sports worldwide and emerging trends
Excellent teaching, management, communication and supervisory skills
Commitment to educate and inform students and parents about college placement
Strong commitment to student-athletes and their development
Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
Experience with MS Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to comprehensive excellence
Preferred Skills
Bilingual
Master’s degree, preferably in a business or sport-related major
Management experience to include coaching
CPR Certification
Valid driver’s license
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment in excess of 40 pounds
Ability to handle outdoor conditions for a reasonable period of time
Ability to move around campus including gym, turf, fields, etc.
Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays
