The Sport Science Intern will support the Sport Science team at IMG Academy to deliver the company’s mission to help athletes realize their potential.
Position Responsibilities:
Conduct allocated intern projects, including but not limited to assisting with data collection and the interpretation of data in relation to athlete development and performance.
Effectively communicate project findings to athletes, coaches and other support staff as appropriate
Collaborate with sport coaches and APD staff to drive continuous education and program improvement through sport science intern projects
Develop competency with IMGA performance technology (e.g., Catapult, Vald, Swift) and athlete management system (Smartabase)
Support the systematic approach to data collection, analysis and application of athlete, developmental or performance insights
Present the completed main intern project to IMG Academy colleagues
Support the Sport Science team at IMG Academy to deliver the company’s mission to help athletes realize their potential
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in sport science or related area (e.g. kinesiology, exercise science, etc.)
Knowledge of sports science disciplines and their impact on training and performance of developmental athletes.
The ability to analyze, organize and communicate data relevant to athlete development
The ability to apply scientific principles to athlete development pathways
Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with the ability to interface with a variety of audiences
Highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced organization
Ability and desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
A proactive approach with a superior work ethic
