Overview:
Our Palmer location is a $50 million business focused on the manufacturing and development of cutting-edge products that serve a range of customers in the medical device and analytical instrumentation markets. Our products include electron multipliers, filaments, syringes, pumps, and valves. We employ 240 employees and aspire to be a market-leading provider of innovative and life-impacting technology, inspired by the creativity and curiosity of our employees and customers.
We are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Director to oversee Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing functions at our Palmer site. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, ensuring seamless processes, and achieving performance targets while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Work Environment: This role is based on-site at our Palmer, MA location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategy: Provide strategic direction and leadership to Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams, aligning departmental goals with overall company objectives.
- Quality Management: Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and compliance regulations, driving initiatives that enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Manage end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory management, and logistics, to ensure efficient and cost-effective workflows.
- Manufacturing Operations: Drive productivity improvements across manufacturing processes while maintaining safety, efficiency, and consistency. Ensure capacity planning meets demand forecasts.
- Operational Excellence: Lead initiatives focused on improving key performance metrics such as cycle time, throughput, and waste reduction, utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational methodologies.
- Team Development: Foster the growth and development of a high-performing workforce. Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing departments, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or efficiency.
- Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless integration of processes and alignment toward achieving organizational goals.
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
- 10 years of experience in manufacturing operations, supply chain, and/or quality management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence and achieving measurable improvements in quality, supply chain, and manufacturing performance.
- Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and/or other process improvement frameworks.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
