Role Overview:

The Leave & Payroll Specialist manages all US employee's leaves of absences from initiation of time off through their return to work. They will ensure that the leaves comply with state and federal law and that the employees receive the appropriate pay while out. 

Work Environment: Position based at our Denver, CO work site with a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite).
  
Key Responsibilities
Leave of Absence 90% 

  • Liaises with the 3rd party leave Administrator Lincoln Financial
  • Delivers timely and accurate timecards for bi-weekly payrolls for those on leave
  • Completes all other payroll needs for each leave of absence
  • Stays up to date on all state and Federal leave laws
  • Understands the Americans with Disabilities Act and End of Leave processes 
  • Is an excellent person to person communicator and explains the leave of absence process to employees
  • Administers the IMI Parental Leave plan along with all other leave programs

Payroll & Misc. 10%

  • Learns the IMI payroll process and can conduct accurate reviews of payrolls to ensure accuracy of employee pay while on their leave of absence
  • Receives and enters changes to ADP data from HR partners.  Maintains accuracy of data in the HRIS system
  • Assists to capture accurate time worked for non-exempt and exception time for exempt employees as well as accurate tracking of time off in ADP Enterprise eTime system
  • As a back-up, prepares documentation for external and internal audits and provides additional answers to auditors
  • Supports or leads various special projects for leave of absence or employee benefits
  • Travel as needed (less than 5% of time)
  • Other duties as assigned

Critical Competencies for Success
Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelors preferred.
  • 1-2 years of exposure to leave of absence principles and how it affects payroll
  • 1 years of multi-state payroll experience in a medium to large sized company preferably in a manufacturing environment 

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of leave of absence principles 
  • Knowledge of payroll: methods, procedures, controls, laws, and regulations
  • Self-motivated and proactive to study, attend seminars, stay current with LOA changes
  • Capable of working as a member of a team and operating independently
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the business
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously and be extremely detail oriented
  • High level of integrity and the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and time-critical environment

Computers and Technology

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of payroll, HRIS and timekeeping systems
  • Able to learn and manage timecards in a timekeeping system and a leave of absence module

Certifications – Support provided by IMI

  • Willing to study and obtain the Certified Leave Management Specialist Certification, CLMS

Pay range:  $70k - $75k

Within the range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to the job requirements. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to receive a variable incentive pay component. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
