Role Overview
The Applications Engineer supports the Growth Hub function to provide the highest level of product and application related technical support to uncover key customer problem statements that drive IMI innovation and ultimately profitable organic growth.

Role Overview
The Applications Engineer supports the Growth Hub function to provide the highest level of product and application related technical support to uncover key customer problem statements that drive IMI innovation and ultimately profitable organic growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for identifying significant, industry wide, customer problems that have the potential to be needle moving for the Business Unit
- Create a foresight network internally (product management, and sales teams) and externally (customers, start-ups, innovation hubs) to source customer problems from
- Engage with the foresight network, scan market research materials, and map out the segments and applications where disruptive opportunities exist
- Engage with customers through the foresight network to get a deeper understanding of the customer problems and to size the global revenue opportunity
- Run hackathons with a mix of internal resources, customers and other external contacts to accelerate understanding of a customer problem space and conclude whether to progress to a Growth Hub team or “kill”
- Work with Growth Hub leader to successfully set up new Growth hub teams taking on ideas validated in foresight
- Use and implement common language and processes around how projects get evaluated for Growth Hub
- Provide the highest quality level of technical product and application support to all sales channels and other internal customers in a timely manner.
- This support may include but not limited to:
- Technical questions about our own products
- Size and selection of our products to meet customer specifications and application requirements
- Ability to understand competitor products and identify weaknesses and advantages
- Strong knowledge around pneumatic system connectivity and machine communication protocols
- Develop strong working relationships with Norgren personnel and Norgren customers.
- Identify improvement ideas within the product and application technical support processes.
- Strong product knowledge and application expertise for our complete product portfolio for the Industrial Automation business group.
- Verifying product specifications across multiple different global manufacturing sites
- Read and understand product drawings, ISO schematics, P&ID’s, pneumatic and electrical system circuits
- Assist our Distributors, End Customers, and Sales Teams as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
- 3-5 years’ experience in fluid power and/or motion control systems desired.
- Requires competent engineering and technical judgment.
- Fluid Power Pneumatic certification is highly desired.
