What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower School Teacher Assistant position at Immanuel Christian School?
JOB SUMMARY
It will be the Teaching Assistant’s job to support the teacher in any task assigned to the teacher by the school administration. With the teacher, the Teaching Assistant (TA) will seek to promote a classroom atmosphere and environment that encourages growth and maturity in all developmental areas. The relationships between students, teachers, and TAs are expected to reflect a biblically based value system.
To maintain spiritual unity and professional growth, the TA will be asked to participate in the following tasks:
I. Spiritual Preparedness and Responsibilities
A. Maintain a daily personal devotional life so as to be prepared spiritually for the demands of each teaching day.
B. Exemplify love and obedience to Christ and His Word.
C. Attend an evangelical church and serve in ministry as the Lord leads.
II. Classroom Responsibilities
A. Assume appropriate responsibility for tasks as requested by the classroom teacher or administration.
B. Participate in weekly meetings with the classroom teacher.
C. Prepare and teach in specific instructional areas as requested by the teacher and approved by the Principal.
D. Offer educational assistance to students under the direction of the teacher.
E. Provide assistance to the teacher with everyday tasks, as agreed.
F. Share with only with the teacher any specific insights about students in order to assist in assessments and evaluations. Because the teacher is responsible for all communication between school and home, specific discussions with parents about students will only be done under the teacher’s direction and guidance.
G. When the teacher is absent, TAs assigned to one classroom will be considered first for substitute teaching. The teacher will contact a TA substitute. TAs will receive additional compensation for assuming the teacher’s responsibility as a substitute. ?
III. Professional Responsibilities
A. Contractual classroom hours are to be used to help the teacher in and out of the classroom.
B. Share on a proportional basis in the duties involved in school operation and special activities.
C. Provide assistance in maintaining school-wide behavior policies throughout the ICS campus.
D. Attend faculty meetings, in-service conferences, and school programs as requested by the Principal.
Requirements:- Regenerated by the Holy Spirit through a personal faith in and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior.
- Knowledgeable of the Bible and the Gospel message that transforms lives.
- Cooperative and able to function well as part of a team.
- Able to demonstrate a desire to teach children.
- Experienced in working with children of the age/grade level assigned.
- Willing to work with the classroom teacher for the educational benefit of ICS students.
