What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Front Desk Receptionist Urgent Care position at IMMEDIATE HEALTH ASSOCIATES INC?
Position provides reception and office support to all patients, family members and staff of the of the Urgent Care Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Denotes essential function
Obtain necessary patient information to maintain the medical record(s) of patients including photo identification, proof of insurance, consent, and copay.*
Check in patients for office visits by verifying demographic information, current insurance policy, collection of copay and any outstanding balance on accounts.
Communication with patients, medical staff, and providers of schedule delays, changes, or other items.
Answer multi-line telephone system during office hours. Screen calls and triage to the appropriate team member.
Maintain patient medical records transferring to and from office.
Maintain FMLA, disability, and other letters for patients.
Maintain appearance of waiting room during office operation hours.
End of day financial balance of credit card, cash, and check collection.
Actively participate in staff meetings/educational activities to improve the environment and customer care.*
Proper dress and identification at all times.*
Use of proper telephone etiquette at all times*.
Greet visitors professionally and tactfully deal with the public in all circumstances/situations.*
Maintain patient privacy as well as confidentiality.*
Initiate and develop positive relationships with patients, visitors and staff members.*
Ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff members.*
Promote the smooth flow of patients through the office and help create a calm and supportive environment.*
Perform a full range of secretarial and clerical functions for urgent care center per the job description as well as other duties assigned.*
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good oral and written communication skills.
Basic typing and computer skills.
General problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work well under stress.
Works well in a team environment.
Some training/experience in the medical field desirable but not required.
Credentials and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalency.
Training/experience in the medical field desirable but not required.
Experience in the customer service industry desirable.

COVID-19 considerations:
Must be vaccinated for COVID-19. All staff and patients are required to wear masks. Staff also have access to goggles, face shields, gloves and other PPE to feel protected. Plastic or glass protective sections are placed between front desk and registration of patients.
