SUMMARY
The Estimator is responsible for analyzing project specifications, conducting material take-offs, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotes, and preparing detailed cost estimates. The Estimator collaborates closely with project stakeholders to ensure that estimates align with project objectives and budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Reviews project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Identifies and quantifies materials, labor, equipment and other resources needed for construction.
- Conducts site visits and assessments to gather relevant information for accurate cost estimation.
- Utilizes estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates for proposed construction projects.
- Analyzes and evaluates historical data, industry standards, and market trends to determine cost factors. Develops comprehensive cost breakdowns, including material costs, labor costs, equipment costs, and overhead expenses.
- Solicits and reviews quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and services. Negotiates pricing and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and favorable agreements.
- Maintains relationships with vendors and subcontractors to facilitate efficient procurement processes.
- Collaborates with project managers, preconstruction managers, and other stakeholders to develop projects budgets on cost estimates.
- Provides input and recommendations to project budgets and resource allocation. Monitors and tracks budget adjustments and revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identifies opportunities for cost savings and value engineering to optimize project outcomes.
- Collaborates with design and engineering teams to explore alternative materials, construction methods, and design solutions.
- Evaluates cost implications and feasibility of value engineering proposals.
- Prepares detailed proposals and bid packages in response to client request for construction services.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of bid documents, including cost estimates, schedules, and contractual terms.
- Presents bids and proposals to clients and participates in bid negotiations, as needed.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
- Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent relevant construction experience required.
- Professional certifications are a plus (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator)
- OSHA 10 certification strongly preferred, with attainment in first 12 months of employment required.
Experience/Knowledge
- 3 years of estimating experience in a general contractor environment.
- Conceptual estimating skills a plus. Ability to rough out a schedule.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with field practices, scheduling, codes, OSHA safety guidelines.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software with On Screen Takeoff (OST) preferred. Microsoft Office (Outlook Word, and Excel) required.
