What are the responsibilities and job description for the Superintendent position at Immel Construction?
Immel Construction is in search of a Superintendent to direct all aspects of jobsite management, oversee construction progress according to project plans and specifications, and ensure work is performed according to safety and compliance standards. You can expect to collaborate with clients, architects, subcontractors, field staff, and office staff. Depending on the project, you may serve as lead Superintendent and/or work under the direction of a General Superintendent.
Responsibilities
· Direct and supervise labor crew foreman, labor crew, and subcontractors.
· Fulfill staffing requirements according to construction schedule.
· Ensure proper materials, tools, equipment, and labor are available for scheduled work.
· Consult with and direct subcontractors and self-performed work trades engaged in planning and executing work.
· Effectively coordinate various phases of work to ensure timely project deliverables.
· Drives and manages relationships with project managers, owners, architects, inspectors, and engineers to understand the scope of work and evaluate construction progress. Lead project changes, as needed.
· Inspect work-in-progress to ensure conformation to specifications and adherence to schedules.
· Collaborate with the dedicated project manager to forecast upcoming construction phase requirements.
· Champion job site safety. Hold all site workers, including subcontractors, accountable to follow all proper safety policies, procedures, and requirements. Report accidents, injuries, and safety violations in a thorough and timely manner.
· Maintain compliance with Storm Water Pollution Protection Plan (SWPPP), controlled access, Hazardous Waste, and Safety. Complete inspections and related reports.
· Chair weekly foreman’s meeting, document content regarding safety, toolbox talks, owner feedback, needed materials, compliance, scheduling, etc.
· Compose and maintain 3 to 4-week Gantt schedules, daily progress reports, and daily timesheets for site crew.
· Evaluate progress by labor productivity units and submit completed material and equipment reports.
· Conduct weekly job-site safety audits, reporting findings weekly.
· May generate RFIs as well as document and communicate resolutions.
· Discuss labor issues with union representatives.
· Collect, review, and submit completed new hire paperwork for trade employees.
· Receive and verify materials.
· All other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
· Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or equivalent relevant construction jobsite experience.
· 5 years of in-field construction.
· 5 years of construction leadership.
· OSHA 30 Certification within 90 days of employment start date required.
Skills & Experience
· Valid driver’s license.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel) is required.
· Ability to efficiently use technology (e.g., tablet) and the Internet.
· Proficiency in Procore is highly desired.
· Effective, professional written and verbal communication skills.
· Proactive, reliable, self-motivated, and disciplined.
· Works independently and exercises sound judgment when making decisions.

· Ability to sit or stand in place, or walk for long periods of time; reach, climb, or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift/move items up to 25 pounds.
