What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler/Forklift Operator position at IMMI?
The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and accurate handling of materials and shipments within the shipping department. The individual will operate specialized equipment, such as forklifts and RF scanners, to load, unload, and track shipments.
- Shipping&Material Handling: Efficiently handle and prepare materials for shipment according to company standards and customer requirements.
- ForkliftOperation: Safely operate both standup reach trucks and sit-down forklifts to transport, load, and unload products.
- RFScanner & Computer Use: Use RF scanners and computers to track and manage inventory, ensuring accuracy in order processing and shipments.
- SafetyCompliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, particularly in the handling of hazardous materials including pyrotechnics. Ensure compliance with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BAFTE) guidelines.
- InventoryControl: Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, and the proper storage of materials in designated areas.
- TeamCollaboration: Work with the shipping and receiving team to meet daily shipping goals, communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors, and contribute to a safe and productive work environment.
- Maintain all standards of quality as stated by government and IMMI.
- Operate in cross-functional departmental groups and projects to ensure inventory is moved in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Mandatory Experience: Minimum of 2 years working in a shipping environment..
- Forklift Proficiency: Demonstrated experience and proficiency operating both standup reach trucks and sit-down forklifts.
- Technology Skills: Experience with RF scanners and basic computer skills are preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to [insert weight], stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- 5-7 years’ experience in logistics and supply chain, warehousing functions, or similar field
