About Us: The Immigration Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential legal services to low-income immigrant communities in central and southern Illinois. Our mission is to empower individuals in their journey to attain U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, work authorization, and family reunification. We support survivors of trauma and violence in their visa, asylum, and residency applications. Through outreach and educational programs, we aim to empower immigrant and non-immigrant communities alike.
Position Overview: The Emerging Programs Assistant AmeriCorps VISTA will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's growth by actively contributing to the development and organization of new initiatives and programs. These programs are designed to address rapidly evolving community needs, such as responding to mass arrivals of vulnerable populations and establishing innovative services like the Universal Representation for Detainees program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with program staff to identify, map, and visually represent the processes and workflow within the new initiatives and programs.
- Evaluate the existing program design and identify areas for process improvement to enhance program effectiveness.
- Create comprehensive guides and materials for the new programs, which may include intake guides, training materials for staff and volunteers, and program documentation.
- Work in collaboration with program leadership, including the Executive Director, to refine the program's goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and strategic priorities.
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Passion for supporting new program development and community impact.
- Preferred: Experience in program development, process mapping, or project management.
Transportation: This role is primarily office-based, with no specific transportation requirements beyond commuting to the office.
Housing Assistance: We offer a $500/month additional housing stipend, which is allowable under VISTA regulations. This stipend is paid directly to the landlord or mortgage lender.
