Our client, a well-established manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead their accounting and financial operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on, strategic finance leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and brings a proven track record of optimizing financial performance, strengthening internal controls, and mentoring high-performing teams. The Controller will oversee general accounting, AP, and tax operations, while playing a key role in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration. This is a highly visible position that will partner closely with business leaders to drive process improvements, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver insightful analyses to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to the accounting, AP, and tax teams, focusing on skills development, cross-training, and succession planning
* Oversee and manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting aligned with GAAP and internal standards
* Lead efforts to enhance financial systems, drive process efficiency, and establish best-in-class financial operations
* Conduct high-level financial analyses and collaborate across departments to support reporting and analytical needs
* Ensure accurate and timely compliance with internal control policies and regulatory requirements
* Partner with internal stakeholders to lead budgeting and forecasting efforts, including training and support to departmental leaders
* Serve as a primary liaison during audits, working closely with external auditors and regulatory agencies
* Build strong cross-functional relationships to support strategic planning and problem-solving initiatives across the organization
* Support the CFO and finance leadership team in developing long-term financial strategies and organizational improvements
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
* 5–8 years of progressive corporate accounting experience, including leadership of accounting operations
* Strong command of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
* Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring accounting teams
* High proficiency in Excel with the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools
* Proven ability to deliver strategic financial insights while maintaining operational accuracy
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
* Strong analytical, organizational, and project management capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
* CPA or MBA preferred
* Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Familiarity with financial systems such as Epicor, SAP, Spreadsheet Server (Insight Software), or XL Connect
* Background in managing cross-functional initiatives or leading systems/process upgrades
