Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial reporting, premium accounting, and financial planning & analysis (FP&A) within a fast-paced insurance environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting on both statutory and GAAP bases, managing regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in property and casualty (P&C) insurance accounting, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive efficiency in financial processes.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on both GAAP and statutory bases.
- Lead financial audits by serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors and assisting in internal audit reviews.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and oversee financial submissions to regulatory agencies and financial institutions.
- Manage and monitor reinsurance accounting, including contract compliance and recoveries.
- Prepare and analyze FP&A reports to support strategic decision-making and improve financial performance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Ensure accurate processing of cash receipts, refunds, and commission payments within the Premium Accounting Department.
- Oversee tax provisions, ensuring accuracy in federal and state income tax filings.
- Evaluate and enhance internal financial controls, processes, and financial information systems.
- Mentor and develop accounting team members, fostering a high-performing financial function.
