Job Description
Our client is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee materials management, production scheduling, and inventory control to support efficient and timely manufacturing processes. This role plays a critical part in aligning supply chain functions with production demands, optimizing inventory levels, and ensuring a seamless flow of materials. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in supply chain management, procurement, and production planning. Primary Responsibilities : Materials Management :
Develop and implement material planning strategies to ensure continuous production.
Maintain optimal inventory levels, balancing cost efficiency with production needs.
Oversee procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management.
Collaborate with suppliers to establish reliable, cost-effective supply chains.
Production Scheduling :
Create and maintain detailed production schedules to meet customer demand and deadlines.
Coordinate across production, purchasing, and sales teams to align capacity and demand.
Monitor and adjust schedules in response to changes in orders, material availability, or production constraints.
Implement lean scheduling techniques to reduce lead times and enhance flexibility.
Inventory Control & Optimization :
Establish and enforce inventory control procedures, including cycle counting and accuracy audits.
Utilize ERP systems to track inventory levels, movements, and transactions.
Analyze inventory data to identify slow-moving or obsolete stock and recommend appropriate actions.
Optimize warehouse layout and material handling processes for efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication :
Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material specifications meet product requirements.
Partner with sales and customer service teams to align delivery timelines with customer expectations.
Function as the primary point of contact for material-related issues, ensuring rapid resolution of supply chain disruptions.
Leadership :
Lead and mentor a team of material planners, schedulers, and inventory coordinators.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team performance and skills.
Job Requirements
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
7 plus years of experience in materials management, production scheduling, or supply chain operations.
Strong knowledge of ERP / MRP systems for inventory and scheduling management.
Proven experience in supplier management, procurement, and contract negotiations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Effective communication and leadership abilities with cross-functional teams.
Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
