Job Description
The Manufacturing Shift Supervisor on 2nd and 3rd shift is responsible for directing and coordinating shift personnel to ensure the production of company products in a quality, timely, and safe manner. This role requires strict adherence to company policies, quality controls, and operating procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing operations, problem-solving skills, and the ability to train and manage a team effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Shift Coordination :
Direct and coordinate shift personnel to produce company products in a quality, timely, and safe manner.
Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to by all employees and visitors on the production floor.
Quality and Standards Maintenance :
Ensure manufacturing standards, quality controls, and operating procedures are maintained and achieved.
Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems, recommending and implementing improvements in operations, equipment utilization, and related matters.
Inventory and Documentation :
Ensure employees on the shift are scanning products correctly to avoid inventory variances and component shortages.
Ensure that all documents are filled out properly and turned in daily.
Scrap Management :
Address any scrap created at the machine immediately.
Escalate to the APU Manager if more than 10 pieces are scrapped or if the machine is down for more than 10 minutes.
Operational Efficiency :
Ensure that OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) daily production sheets are entered daily, including scrap.
Report and assist in resolving all manufacturing issues, including facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel problems.
Ensure effective communications at shift start-up and during shift carryovers.
Training and Compliance :
Train all employees reporting to the shift on established manufacturing and quality standards in a cost-efficient manner, documenting the training according to client procedures.
Reconcile and approve hourly employee timecards in E-Time.
Enforce and practice health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and requirements.
Job Requirements
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent; further education in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety standards.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to implement effective solutions.
Proficient in using manufacturing software and systems for inventory and time management.
Strong communication and team management skills.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
