Our client, a key player in the defense manufacturing space, is seeking a detail-driven Purchasing Planner to support critical inventory and procurement functions for a 3-6 month contract. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory transfers between internal systems with accuracy and attention to detail
- Modify and update purchase orders based on evolving material needs and backlog clean-up priorities
- Assist in reconciling and correcting inventory discrepancies
- Support backlog reduction by identifying and resolving material issues
- Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, planning, and operations teams
- Ensure compliance with defense industry standards, including FAR/DFAR requirements
- Maintain data integrity across systems to support planning and reporting
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain in a manufacturing or defense-related environment
- Strong understanding of inventory planning principles and procurement processes
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Experience working with ERP systems and managing material transactions
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Solid communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to FAR/DFAR compliance in a defense or government contracting environment
- Previous experience in a backlog reduction or inventory reconciliation project
- Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)
- Background in aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing
