What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper Elementary ELA and Social Studies Teacher position at Impact Charter School?
Responsibilities:
- Implement state learning standards using Tier I curicula and assessments to meet rigorous academic expectations
- Create an inviting, exciting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Plan and implement a blended learning program using designated programs
- Submit weekly lesson plans up to two weeks in advance for feedback
- Implement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly
- Communicate students’ progress with student and family on a weekly basis
- Participation in all TAP requirements, focusing on data-driven instruction
- Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments
- Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
- Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
- Attend all grade level and staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hours
- Effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks.
- Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to school’s mission and vision as well as the well being of each student.
- Support and uphold the school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student
- Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs
- Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties
- Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development
- Minimum of 40 hours spent at school per week
- Dress professionally and uphold all school policies
- Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by administration
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
- Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a K-8 classroom setting
- Licenses or Certifications: State certification preferred but not required
- TAP Experience: Preferred but not required
- Has demonstrated effective outcomes and results, and wants to be held accountable for them
Knowledge and Skills:
- Works with a sense of urgency to improve student outcomes
- Embrace feedback and respond positively to receiving and sharing feedback
- Experience with different classroom management strategies and differentiated instruction preferred.
- Ability to positively adapt to rapid changes that may occur in a school setting
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to uplift scholars and engage learning in exciting, motivating and innovative ways
Compensation:
The salary for this position starts at $48,000 based on a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience and prior performance data. This position is also eligible for growth and incentive opportunites through our Teacher Career Pathway Program.
