Substitute Teacher
Subcontracted employee working as a part of our Substitute Teaching Team
Bachelor’s degree required; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education-related field is preferred
Summary of Position
Abundant Life Christian School is seeking enthusiastic, qualified, and creative Christian substitute teachers committed to growing students' interest in and skills using a pre-established curriculum. The ideal candidates will also prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.
Required Spiritual Qualifications
All substitute teachers shall:
- Have received Jesus Christ as his/her Savior
- Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living
- Be in agreement with school’s Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education
- Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct. Luke 6:40
- Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in significant agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith

Other Required Qualifications
All substitute teachers shall
- Demonstrate a love of children and heart to serve others
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
- Respectfully submit and be loyal to authority
- Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately
- Avoid gossip and practice Biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18)
Essential Job Functions
All Substitute teachers shall:
- Reflect on the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
- Keep proper discipline in the classrooms and on the school premises to promote a healthy learning environment
- Maintain regular and accurate attendance for the class covered
- Help prepare/set up classrooms and learning spaces as needed prior to class
- Establish and enforce rules of conduct for activities
- Monitor use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities
