SUMMARY
The Material Handler Lead manages the day-to-day planning, operation, and problem solving of a team of material handlers across both shifts. Physical and virtual (system) responsibility for movements of packaging, raw materials and finished goods both into and out of production and other warehouses. Transactional entry required in inventory system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Provide training for new employees and monitor job performance.
- Hold team accountable when members fail to meet expectations.
- Act as the communication conduit between material handlers and management.
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety and company policies.
- Moves materials through warehouse, staging and production areas.
- Setup and maintain material stock for each production line or area.
- Move pallets (approx. 1000lb each) of finished goods from production area to warehouse.
- Count, return and process material transactions.
- Keep accurate paperwork and counts of all associated materials.
- Maintain highly accurate counts of materials transacted.
- Enter material transactions in inventory system.
- Communicate cross functionally effectively to mitigate production issues.
- Demonstrate a commitment to food safety and continuous improvements.
- Required to attend initial and annual training for GMP, HACCP, SQF and Food Defense.
- All other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees assigned material handlers working with Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent preferred, at least three years of production related experience or training, in a similar role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret pick/staging lists in Excel format. Ability to write instruction and basic correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively cross functionally.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers and decimals. Must have high proficiency at counting and converting units of measure accurately.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
COMPUTER SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to read and interpret Excel spreadsheets. Must be able to perform data entry transactions in inventory tracking system to record movements of materials within multiple warehouses.
WAREHOUSE SKILLS
Must be able to operate hand trucks, various electric hand trucks and drive a forklift as required. Must be able to attain forklift certification. Previous forklift experience preferred.
