Job Description: Community Mental Health Counselor (Contractor) - At-Risk Youth & Families
Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Mental Health Counselor to provide therapeutic services to at-risk youth and families in the community. This is a contract-based position where the counselor will work directly with individuals and families to address mental health needs, provide support, and foster resilience. The counselor will offer individual and group therapy, conduct assessments, and develop treatment plans for youth and their families facing a variety of challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling services to at-risk youth, families, and caregivers within the community.
- Conduct mental health assessments to identify client needs, including trauma history, behavioral concerns, and emotional difficulties.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each client.
- Support youth in building coping skills, improving emotional regulation, and enhancing communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work closely with families to promote healthier relationships, positive communication, and overall family well-being.
- Collaborate with local schools, community organizations, and social service agencies to provide comprehensive care.
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed, including assessing safety concerns and connecting clients with appropriate resources.
- Educate youth and families about mental health issues, coping strategies, and available community resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and other documentation as required by law and professional ethics.
- Participate in case consultations, team meetings, and professional development opportunities as needed.
- Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in providing counseling in a community-based setting.
- Familiarity with local community resources and referral networks.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
Compensation: Compensation is competitive and based on experience. This is a contract position with flexibility in scheduling and workload.
- Experience working with at-risk youth, families, or marginalized populations.
- Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, crisis intervention techniques, and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, community-based setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with clients, families, and community partners.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $24.00 - $34.00 per hour
