Job Description: Mental Health Counselor (Contractor)
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our team as a contractor. This position is ideal for a motivated professional who is passionate about providing mental health support in a flexible, community-based setting. As a contractor, the counselor will offer individual and group therapy, conduct assessments, and develop personalized treatment plans to address the mental health needs of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling services to clients with various mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral issues.
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to evaluate clients' needs and determine appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for clients based on their goals and progress.
- Offer crisis intervention services when necessary, including assessment and managing immediate risks or safety concerns.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies, enhancing emotional regulation, and improving interpersonal relationships.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, progress notes, and any other required records.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, community organizations, and social service agencies to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Educate clients on mental health topics, coping strategies, and available resources to promote overall well-being.
- Maintain a professional and ethical standard of care, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Proven experience providing mental health counseling or therapy.
- Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and crisis management.
- Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and handle multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with clients.
- Knowledge of community resources and ability to connect clients with external services as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing client documentation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with a variety of populations, including youth, adults, or specific client groups (e.g., individuals with substance use disorders, trauma survivors, etc.).
- Familiarity with local community organizations and service networks.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Compensation: Compensation is competitive and will be based on experience. This is a contract position with flexible scheduling and workload arrangements.
