Job Description :
A Funeral Assistant provides critical support to funeral directors in managing and executing funeral services with professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail. This role requires a unique blend of administrative skills, emotional intelligence, and practical capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist funeral directors in preparing and coordinating funeral services
Provide emotional support to grieving families during visitations and services
Set up and arrange for services, including :
Positioning caskets / urns and arranging floral displays
Cleaning, vacuuming, getting space ready for services
Keeping vehicles service ready, clean and swept
Parking funeral processions in all weather
General outdoor maintenance i.e. salt / shovel, leaf blowing
Manage logistical tasks such as :
Greeting and directing funeral attendees
Dismissing attendees and helping to get the procession out
Handling administrative paperwork i.e. death certificate filing
Driving funeral vehicles when required
Transferring people into our care from homes, hospitals, care facilities
Qualifications :
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain composed in emotionally challenging situations
Excellent organizational capabilities
Compassionate and professional demeanor
Dress must be appropriate for funeral work i.e. suits, ties, dress shoes for men; suits, blouses, close-toed conservative shoes for women
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
Requirements :
Minimum age : 18 years old
Valid driver's license with a clean record to qualify to be put on commercial insurance plan
Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 100 pounds)
