Job Description
The Yard Tech/Utility Worker is responsible for performing general cleaning, maintenance, and support tasks within the machine shop and on company grounds. This role ensures the efficient operation of the yard, including the upkeep of equipment, property, and materials handling.

Job Description
The Yard Tech/Utility Worker is responsible for performing general cleaning, maintenance, and support tasks within the machine shop and on company grounds. This role ensures the efficient operation of the yard, including the upkeep of equipment, property, and materials handling.
Responsibilities
- Compactor Maintenance: Clean and pressure wash compactors, both inside and out, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order and visually appealing.
- Property Cleaning & Organization: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the property by picking up trash, removing brush, and ensuring all areas are tidy and safe.
- Material Handling Support: Assist team members with the safe lifting, movement, and handling of fabrication materials and equipment.
- Loading/Unloading: Safely load and unload trucks containing compactors, parts, and supplies, ensuring materials are handled appropriately.
- Forklift Operation: Operate 8k to 20k forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials, compactors, and supplies within the yard.
- Painting: Provide backup support for painting compactors when required, ensuring high-quality finishes and proper preparation.
- General Maintenance: Perform a variety of building and property maintenance tasks to keep the facility in optimal condition.
- Work Completion: Follow verbal and written instructions from the Manager or other company officials to complete all assigned duties in a timely manner.
- Inventory Management: Order, maintain, and organize supplies and equipment necessary for daily maintenance operations.
- Light Fixture Maintenance: Replace light fixtures and bulbs as needed to ensure proper lighting in the work areas.
- Chemical Safety: Safely handle volatile cleaning chemicals and gasoline, adhering to all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork and data entry to document maintenance tasks and track project progress.
- Safety Compliance: Consistently follow safety protocols, including the use of required safety equipment, to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret written and verbal work orders and instructions.
- Familiarity with cleaning and maintenance equipment, chemicals, and safety protocols.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment and materials with proper techniques.
