SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Manufacturing Reliability Engineer is responsible for analyzing and improving the reliability of machinery and production processes within a manufacturing facility by identifying potential failure points, implementing preventative maintenance strategies, conducting failure analysis, and developing systems to minimize downtime and maximize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), ultimately ensuring efficient production and minimizing costs associated with equipment failures. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence by driving improvements in equipment reliability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing facility.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

Lean and Continuous Improvement :

  • Lead and facilitate lean improvement projects across various departments.
  • Conduct lean training sessions and workshops for employees at all levels.
  • Analyze current processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement lean tools and techniques such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Standard Work.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop, train, and implement solutions.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Lean manufacturing coordination and implementation.

Data Analysis :

  • Collect and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends, predict potential failures, and identify root causes of breakdowns using statistical methods.
  • Failure Analysis :

  • Investigate equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis to understand the mechanisms behind failures, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Preventive Maintenance :

  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance plans based on reliability analysis to minimize unexpected downtime and optimize equipment lifespan.
  • Design Review :

  • Collaborate with engineering teams during new equipment design and installation to ensure reliability considerations are integrated into the design.
  • Training and Support :

  • Train maintenance personnel on proper maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques related to reliability best practices.
  • Cost Analysis :

  • Evaluate the cost impact of equipment failures and maintenance activities to prioritize reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement :

  • Identify opportunities to enhance reliability through process improvements, new technologies, and equipment upgrades.
  • Ensure Quality Systems / Control, Retrofits, and Yard Management are up to date following Quality Criteria.
  • Additional Responsibilities :

  • Analyze failure data and perform root cause analysis.
  • Implement corrective actions and preventive measures based on analysis.
  • Oversee plant quality systems reliability.
  • Drive Non-Conformance Report (NCR) reduction initiatives.
  • Lead the Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (P-FMEA) process.
  • Coordinate Lean Manufacturing certification efforts.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in manufacturing and reliability engineering.
  • Required Skills :

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of reliability engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints.
  • Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Education and Experience :

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments with a focus on reliability engineering.
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) designation is a plus.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

  • Competitive salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 depending on experience.
