JOB SUMMARY:
Robotics Extended Day Instructor will work the SUN Site Supervisor and Extended Day Coordinator to provide opportunities for enrichment classes and activities after school. This is a temporary position, instructors will only be working when extended day activities are in session. We are currently looking for an instructor for our winter session, which would be January 20th to March 13th. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday after school from 4:00 to 5:30.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach or assist the Jackson robotics in after-school activity
- Supervise groups of 12-15 children, ages 11-15
- Track and ensure academic and development of students.
- Act as a positive role-model for students.
- Participate and implement support program safety to ensure students are in a safe environment.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely meet the following requirements:
- Experience providing academic and recreational activities to students in after school environments.
- Experience working with school-aged children from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Looking for folks with expertise in coding, mechanical engineering etc.
- Looking for folks with experience with Lego Robotics kits
- Desire and ability to work with children to ensure an enriching, positive, and safe classroom setting.
- Ability to effectively work within a strength-based, integrated youth support service delivery system.
- Ability to document work continually and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Possess strong organizational and time-management skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple and varied tasks;
- Sensitivity and ability to relate to people from diverse lifestyles, socioeconomic levels, and cultures;
- Willingness to work as a team member and support the mission and goals of Impact NW.
- Must be able to complete and pass an Oregon Background check including fingerprinting prior to start date.
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Familiarity/experience with Microsoft Office software and basic computer programs.
