Job Description: Afterschool Teacher

Position Summary: We are looking for a creative, energetic, and responsible Afterschool Teacher to lead engaging and educational activities for students in a safe and structured environment. The Afterschool Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate programs that foster social, emotional, and academic growth. This position requires a passion for working with children and the ability to create a positive and inclusive space for learning and play.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Planning and Implementation:

• Design and lead fun, age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and academic enrichment.
• Prepare lesson plans and materials to meet the developmental needs of the students.
• Encourage creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving through structured and unstructured activities.

Student Supervision:

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during afterschool hours.
• Monitor student behavior and provide guidance and redirection as needed.
• Maintain an inclusive environment that promotes respect and positive interactions among students.

Academic Support:

• Provide homework assistance and academic guidance to students as needed.
• Encourage a love of learning and support academic success through engaging activities.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Maintain open and effective communication with parents, caregivers, and school staff.
• Provide regular updates on student progress and program activities.
• Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive and supportive program.

Classroom and Program Management:

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program space.
• Ensure that all supplies and materials are well-maintained and replenished as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred).
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
• Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Ability to pass a background check.

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position with hours typically from 2 PM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday.
