Position Overview
Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the overall accounting function by working under the direction of the Controller. The individual in this role will be responsible for completing daily and monthly financial tasks to ensure accurate financial reporting for internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Controller in preparing monthly financial statements and other required analyses.
- Monitor all inventory transactions, working with internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain and support the cost accounting system, researching and addressing discrepancies as needed.
- Process month-end journal entries and complete necessary closing tasks.
- Conduct general ledger analysis and reconcile accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Process inventory stock applications/transactions and ensure accurate inventory reviews and reconciliations.
- Assist the Controller in credit research and extension for customers.
- Support the year-end audit, preparing schedules and responding to internal and external auditor requests.
- Assist in managing the Capital and Major Repair function, including calculating depreciation for capital projects and maintaining the fixed asset system.
- Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Prepare monthly scrap invoices and various annual and quarterly scrap reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Controller or in a similar role.
- Strong cost accounting knowledge and experience.
- Manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
