Processing Supervisor

Family-owned and operated client company in western central Ohio is seeking a Processing Supervisor with a positive, “can do” attitude who takes pride in their work. Will be responsible for managing the Processing facility and ensuring product quality, maintaining safety, and leading a diverse team of associates. Successful candidate will be a hands-on, working supervisor who will play an important role in optimizing plant operations and achieving operational goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily pre-operational inspections on machinery
• Support and coordinate plant operations, including processing and shipments, to meet schedules and company quality standards.
• Address and resolve operational issues such as equipment malfunctions, delays in processing, or deviations in quality, in a prompt and effective manner.
• Manage a diverse team of employees in maintaining quality standards via training, coaching, scheduling, and operational efficiency.
• Work with Maintenance to repair and calibrate plant machinery and equipment, to optimize performance efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Proactively approach issue resolution using root cause analyses and error-proofing controls relating to downtime.
• Manage inventory tracking, and work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials while addressing supply chain issues.

Requirements

• Must be flexible, results-driven, focused, and goal-oriented, and able to meet deadlines and goals consistently
• Food processing plant experience is highly desirable, training for specific equipment will be provided.
• Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with solid written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels; including ability to build lasting relationships with team leads and department managers.
• General mechanical aptitude.
• Must possess basic Math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and job-related internet research and the ability to learn for daily use.
• Good organizational, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills, and attention to detail.
• Able to work well within a team environment, or independently, to complete objectives efficiently, with a sense of urgency and personal responsibility.
• Understand, practice, and enforce safe work practices related to: fall protection, control of hazardous energy such as Lockout/Tagout, fire protection systems, electrical safety, forklift/hoist operation, welding, cutting, PPE, and employee “Right to Know.”

Work Environment

Must be able to work in varying environments including indoors, office, warehouse, and processing areas, each varying in temperature, and other environments, including odor, dampness, flies, and spills or messes common to processing facilities.
