What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Estimator position at IMPACT STAFFING INTERNATIONAL?
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Impact Staffing International (ISI) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our client’s team in Cromwell, CT. Our client provides heavy highway, road, bridge and utility construction services to the Department of Transportation, major power generation and utility companies, municipalities, and the private sector across the state of Connecticut. This is a full-time, in-office position, Monday–Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. In this role, you’ll work side-by-side with the Chief Estimator to support project bidding and estimation efforts for major infrastructure projects ranging from $500K to $12M (with capabilities extending to $50M). You’ll begin by supporting existing estimators and learning the company’s approach to take-offs, pricing, and vendor relationships. Responsibilities include reviewing blueprints and drawings, reaching out to subcontractors and suppliers, entering pricing into B2W (Bid2Win) estimating software, and assisting with bid package creation. In this role, you’ll help estimate both concrete-structure projects (bridges, roadwork, utilities) and broader infrastructure builds. You’ll join a collaborative team of 5–8 people, typically working closely with 2–3 on a daily basis. Over time, you’ll take ownership of smaller projects and develop into a well-rounded utility player—eventually gaining field exposure and advancing toward a Senior Estimator role within 2 years, depending on performance. This position is ideal for a candidate with 1–4 years of civil construction estimating experience who’s looking to grow their skills in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.
