This job assesses patients and safely performs routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. It also serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
Education
Required - Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.
Work Experience
Required Minimum of 2 Years.
Preferred - Radiologic technology experience.
Certifications
Required - Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry eligible, registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 90 days of employment, and temporary state license required.
Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Experienced Traveler
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on-call availability) and travel throughout and between facilities.
Job Duties
- Verifies physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy.
- Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
- Explain the procedure to the patient to ensure understanding.
- Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
- Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
- Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performs notification/remediation as warranted.
- Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including, but not limited to, respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adaptation of explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Because the incumbent works in a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste in the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
