Data Scientist II - Pricing & Sales
Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid - 4 days in-office)
Position Summary:
An environmental services company is seeking a Data Scientist II to drive internal data analytics projects, primarily focused on pricing optimization and churn prediction within the sales function. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in building models from scratch and working in ambiguous environments. This role will involve exploring, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to deliver actionable insights and solutions. As part of the data science team, you will develop advanced predictive and machine learning models that drive strategic decisions and influence business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and resolve data inquiries while providing actionable insights.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for department data and analytical projects.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather data and understand business needs.
- Build and develop predictive models, including price optimization, customer segmentation, and churn analysis.
- Perform statistical analyses, including time-series analysis, hypothesis testing, and causal inference.
- Design and validate experiments to generate actionable insights.
- Translate business challenges into technical solutions and present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to end-to-end data science project lifecycle, from data mining and exploration to model deployment and evaluation.
- Work with Python, R, SQL, and cloud tools (AWS, SageMaker, Databricks).
- Collaborate with engineering teams for the deployment of models into production.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in an analytical field (Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics). A master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data science or analytics, with a strong background in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning.
- Proven experience building models from scratch, including data exploration, hypothesis development, and model design.
- Experience in pricing optimization, churn prediction, or customer segmentation is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Python (Pandas, scikit-learn, etc.), R, SQL, and cloud-based tools (AWS, SageMaker, Databricks).
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and econometrics.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative and ambiguous environment, driving solutions through innovation and critical thinking.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
