Maintenance Mechanic

1st Shift

GENERAL PURPOSE
This position requires that the employee be responsible for general maintenance
responsibilities throughout the facility and production areas.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Pickup and transport trash, cardboard, wood, and recycling from all departments
• Dispose of materials according to procedure
• Perform routine equipment maintenance tasks including greasing, oiling, and cleaning
machines.
• Perform facility cleaning operations including mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, etc
• Perform any miscellaneous jobs required for any department
• Make sure materials are readily available for the job
• Update all completed work in the correct system and schedule
• Assist in other plant operations
• Complete clean-up responsibilities and maintain work station according to 5S
procedure
• Perform work at or above pre-established performance objectives
• Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report
hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives, and
investigations

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Ability to follow directions
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to frequently changing priorities/tasks
• Possess a mechanical aptitude
• Ability to identify and communicate hazards and basic process improvements
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Proven reliability – attendance and punctuality
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years
experience with facility maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• No previous work experience is necessary for this position

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for 8
hours/day while making coordinated movements of the hands and fingers to
grasp/pinch and manipulate objects. This may include frequent use of
vibrating/pneumatic tools, overhead and outstretched reaching with arms,
bending/twisting/stooping, kneeling/squatting and frequently lifting/carrying up to 40
lbs. throughout the day and occasionally up to 70 lbs. as needed. Also, may occasionally
include pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
• May occasionally be exposed to dust and spray fumes.
• Regular shop assembly/distribution center environment (no air conditioning)
• Steel-toed shoes are required for working in this position.
