SUMMARY
The Data Architect will play a hands-on role in designing and managing the organization's data architecture, ensuring data integrity, security, accessibility, and scalability. He/she will collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and will then design and implement data models and database structures across multiple systems. He/she will also work in service of other teams to provide technical guidance on data-related projects, perform any necessary data-related tasks, and serve as the escalation point, providing technical support and troubleshooting, for any Tier III data-related support issues. He/she will also mentor and provide best practice guidance to other Data Analysts and Data Engineers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Develop and maintain data architectures that support data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions.
- Define and enforce data governance standards to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess current data systems, and recommend improvements or innovations.
- Create and maintain data pipelines that facilitate the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from various sources.
- Analyze and optimize existing data models and practices to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to data engineers and analysts in data-related projects and tasks.
- Document data architecture design, processes, and practices for ease of reference and compliance purposes.
- Conduct data modeling and design reviews, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational standards.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Azure data services, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Solid understanding of data modeling techniques, ETL processes, data warehousing, and data governance best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering and/or data architecture related role, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure technologies.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
