Job Summary :
The Integrated Pest Management Specialist is responsible for monitoring and managing pest activity, including insects, weeds, and diseases, across both golf courses. This role involves developing and executing corrective measures, applying pesticides, and providing training and oversight to the Assistant IPM Specialist and Landscape Spray Technician. The ideal candidate will maintain an active Pesticide Applicators License, adhere to safety protocols, and contribute to maintaining the overall health and appearance of the courses by identifying and treating pest-related issues. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, physical endurance, and the ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
Primary Responsibilities :
Oversee pest management activities on both golf courses, ensuring effective identification, monitoring, and treatment of pests.
Develop and implement pest control strategies, including pesticide applications and corrective measures.
Ensure all pesticide application activities are performed in compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
Provide leadership and training to Assistant IPM Specialist and Landscape Spray Technician, ensuring proper techniques are followed.
Maintain inventory of pest control products, ensuring adequate stock and proper storage.
Ensure the proper maintenance of application equipment, including calibration and preventative measures.
Stay informed on local and federal pesticide laws and safety standards, ensuring compliance.
Duties Include :
Maintain an active Restricted Use Pesticide Applicators License.
Calibrate all application equipment and ensure correct pesticide delivery.
Stay informed and compliant with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all products.
Assist in training Assistant IPM Specialist and Landscape Spray Technician in pesticide safety and application.
Maintain understanding of pesticide labels including application rates, safety measures, and environmental impact.
Assist with the inventory management of pesticides and related products.
Contribute to preventative maintenance of all application equipment.
Maintain knowledge of spill containment laws and assist in their implementation.
Adhere to container disposal laws and ensure proper disposal methods are followed.
Keep pesticide storage room clean and organized.
Identify and recommend treatment for pests, including diseases, insects, and weeds.
Execute spot spraying of weeds across the course as necessary.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Heavy lifting (up to or over 25 lbs.)
Frequent pulling, climbing, bending, stooping, and reaching (above and below the waist).
Extensive walking and standing.
Ability to perform tasks requiring crawling, kneeling, and fine hand and finger movement.
Work in an outside environment, often exposed to varying weather conditions.
Qualifications :
Pesticide Application Knowledge : Strong familiarity with different types of pesticides and their modes of action (contact vs. systemic).
Safety Standards Compliance : Knowledge of applicator safety equipment and protocols for ensuring personal and environmental safety.
Training & Leadership : Ability to train and oversee a team, ensuring effective pesticide application and safety adherence.
Detail-Oriented : Ability to identify pest-related issues on golf courses and implement targeted solutions.
Technical Skills : Proficiency in calibrating application equipment and maintaining accurate records of pesticide use.
Backup Spray Technician Readiness : Ability to be trained and effectively step in as a backup Spray Technician when needed.
Experience :
Previous experience in pest management, preferably in a golf course environment.
Experience working on a golf course or similar outdoor recreational facility is highly preferred.
