Job Summary :
The Spray Technician works under the direction of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Specialist to monitor and address pest activity, including insects, weeds, and diseases, across both golf courses. The Spray Technician will learn and develop skills in applying plant protectants formulated by the IPM Specialist, calibrating equipment, and maintaining safety and environmental standards. This role also supports maintaining clean and organized work areas, ensuring the proper upkeep of equipment, and promoting chemical safety awareness.
Position Scope :
Work under the guidance of the IPM Specialist to monitor pest activity on both golf courses.
Assist in and learn proper application techniques for plant protectants as formulated by the IPM Specialist.

Primary Responsibilities :
Learn to monitor and assess insect, weed, and disease activity on both golf courses.
Develop skills to properly apply plant protectants as directed by the IPM Specialist.
Spray greens in the absence of the IPM Specialist.
Apply plant protectants to tees and fairways.
Develop knowledge of calibration techniques for application equipment.
Learn the characteristics and uses of different types of pesticides, including fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, nematicides, and surfactants.
Duties :
Maintain an active Restricted Use Pesticide Applicators License.
Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and functionality of spray application equipment.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the chemical storage room.
Keep safety equipment clean, readily available, and in good working condition.
Always wear safety equipment when handling or applying pesticides and ensure filters are kept clean.
Read and fully understand pesticide labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) before application.
Work with Supervisors and the IPM Specialist to improve knowledge of chemical awareness and safe application practices.
Assist in developing and practicing spill containment procedures.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Heavy lifting (up to or over 25 lbs.)
Frequent pulling , climbing , bending , stooping , and reaching (above and below the waist).
Extensive walking and standing .
Ability to perform tasks requiring crawling , kneeling , and fine hand and finger movement .
Work in an outside environment , often exposed to varying weather conditions.
Qualifications :
Pesticide Application Knowledge : Willingness to learn and apply proper pesticide techniques under the guidance of the IPM Specialist.
Calibration Skills : Ability to develop proper calibration methods for equipment.
Safety Standards Compliance : Commitment to following safety protocols and using protective equipment at all times.
Detail-Oriented : Ability to maintain clean, organized storage and equipment areas while adhering to precise application methods.
Learning Mindset : Willingness to develop and expand knowledge of pesticide application and pest management practices .
Experience :
Previous experience in pest management, preferably in a golf course environment.
Experience working on a golf course or similar outdoor recreational facility is highly preferred.
