2nd shift - Monday - Thursday 3pm-1am
Position Description:
This position is responsible for preparing industrial silos and residential and commercial waste-hauling tanks along with parts for the paint process. To excel in this role, you will need to hold a high pressure hose that uses a steel shot (grit) to blast the profiles of these items. A steady hand, natural motivation, positive attitude/aptitude and an outstanding attention to detail are recommended, as well as performing all other duties assigned.
Responsibilities:
- This position abrades surfaces of metal to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, tar, rust, and dirt and to impart specified finish using abrasive blasting equipment.
- Abrade surfaces using proper equipment and techniques.
- Assess abraded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors, to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Set up equipment for specific tasks to be performed.
- Safely operate equipment, (including material handling) and to shovel or pour abrasives (steel shot) into machine hopper.
- Maintain and repair equipment and perform daily housekeeping.
- Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as respirator use, protective masks, and safety shoes.
- Monitor equipment for signs of wear or malfunction.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Previous shot blasting experience preferred.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Capability of understanding technical plans and drawings.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Maintain accurate work and good levels of concentration.
- Ability to work in a team environment and/or on an individual basis.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Flexible and capable of successfully performing in a fast-paced environment.
