Summary: A Quality Assurance (QA) Technician ensures that products and services meet specific quality standards. They conduct inspections, tests, and analyses to identify and resolve defects before they reach the end user. QA Techs also contribute to maintaining and improving quality management systems, often training others on quality control procedures and documenting quality control activities.
Experience
- Assists production staff in inspecting and sampling all production in various stages of work.
- Compares work with standards and brings variations to the supervisor's attention.
- Spot checks work being produced in the pressroom and rewind departments.
- Utilize the spectrophotometer to measure color samples and compare them against the standard.
- Oversee the aspects of print quality by signing off the first article samples before running the job and inspecting end-of-roll samples.
- Maintains files of customer samples and color standards
- Segregate non-conforming products for evaluation and disposition and to avoid contamination of good products in the designated quarantine area.
- Audit press sign-offs by ensuring press operators comply with all control plan activity instructions and verifying they have initialed each item after completion.
- Ensure testing procedures are followed by ensuring the incoming product is not used or processed before inspection or verification of conformity to specified requirements in the purchase and work orders.
- Perform end-of-roll quality by signing off on the first label sample next to the most recent sample on the sample board.
- Update the corrective action database in the Label Traxx system.
- Investigate the cause of nonconformities related to client complaints, internal nonconformities, and audit findings related to quality, resulting in the generation of a Corrective Action.
- Report concerns on the quality system to the production supervisor to identify areas for improvement.
- May be required to perform other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: A Quality Assurance Technician in a manufacturing or warehouse environment typically has physical demands, including standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. They may also be required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Depending on the industry, they may also be exposed to environmental conditions like extreme heat or cold. Additionally, they may need to work near moving machinery and wear personal protective equipment.
